Race bikes, snap photos, win bikes.

Way back in the summer, we hosted the first Swinley Enduro right here at Swinley. We raced, we ate Hog Roast, Marin, Whyte, Pivot and DMR displayed their bikes, there was free tubeless’ing from Stans No Tubes. It was a great day, if we do say so ourselves!

A very nice added-extra for the race was the #SwinleySpiritofEnduro competition – put on by the very nice team at Marin Bikes. Marin asked racers to post a photo to Instagram that best summed up the Swinduro (Swinley Enduro, get it?).

The winner would bag themselves the awesome prize of a brand new Marin Hawk Hill mountain bike – an awesome prize by anyone’s standards!

Spirit of Enduro

Well – the winner has been picked and the bike has been given to the lucky Swinduro competitor. It was, none other than, Mr Ian Sutton. Congratulations Ian!

If you don’t know Ian, he’s a regular here at Swinley and is often seen tearing the trails on our Thursday night rides. He also runs the very nice Stealth Riders blog.

He won the competition, picked by the Marin guys, for his awesome Instagram post below:

A bike worth riding

Not only did Ian win the Marin Hawk Hill but he’s then gifted the bike to his good lady wife Emily.

Emily rides already but Ian tells us “She’ll be riding a lot more now she’s got a bike worth riding. Her previous bike wasn’t the best! Her first ride is this Sunday at the annual Christmas ride out and infamous Swinley Bike Hub BBQ. I’m hoping to get her racing the Swinduro next summer!”

The Marin Hawk Hill

If you haven’t seen the Hawk Hill – it’s a really exciting new mountain bike from Marin. It costs just £1200; it performs like a bike way above its price tag.

It comes with great front and rear suspension, comfortable geometry and a short stem and wide handlebar to offer loads of confidence on the trails. Even better, it’s built to be upgraded so will grow with you as you fall in love with mountain biking. You can read more about it on Marin’s site here.hawk-hill_1135_658_80_s

If you’d like to ride a Marin Hawk Hill you can demo one through the Hub, bookable online here.

They’re perfect for the Blue and Red trails at Swinley.

Thanks to Marin Bikes for making this possible. You can check out their range online here.
